The new Waldorf Astoria Punta Cacique in Costa Rica is finally open
Alongside Conrad Hotels, Waldorf Astoria Hotels rank among the most exclusive properties in the Hilton portfolio. Globally, there are only around 40 Waldorf Astoria hotels. Now, a new luxury resort has joined this elite group: the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique.

Location and Rooms
The Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique officially opened on April 22, 2025. It’s located at the scenic Playa Penca on the Cacique Peninsula in the Guanacaste region. Liberia International Airport (LIR) is just about a 25-minute drive away. Perched dramatically on a cliff, the resort offers guests breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding bays, including Culebra Bay to the north and Coco Bay to the south, along with unforgettable sunsets over the Pacific.

The resort features a total of 148 luxurious guest rooms and 40 exclusive suites. Rooms are spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering ocean views and private terraces or balconies that blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings. Notably, 22 of the suites come with private plunge pools, delivering maximum privacy and luxury. Some of the available room and suite categories include:
Bahia View Room (1 King or 2 Queens)
Ocean View Room (1 King or 2 Queens)
Several one- or two-bedroom suites
Pacifico Suite (two or three bedrooms)
Waldorf Astoria Presidential Suite (two or three bedrooms)
According to Hilton, the architecture is designed with sustainability in mind — green roofs and structures seamlessly integrated into the landscape. These efforts have earned the resort the prestigious Bandera Azul Ecológica environmental award.
Highlights and Amenities
One of the standout features of the resort is the impressive multi-level pool, which stretches right up to the exclusive, tranquil Playa Penca beach. Guests can also enjoy a luxurious 16,000-square-foot (1,500 m²) spa. Culinary options abound as well, with six restaurants and bars, including the signature La Finca restaurant and the Peacock Alley Bar, where local ingredients are crafted into elegant cocktails.
Booking with Hilton Honors Points
The Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique can, of course, be booked using Hilton Honors points. Currently, a standard reward night costs 120,000 Hilton Honors points. Availability is excellent, with reward nights open on roughly every second day — a fantastic value for a property in this category.

Hilton Honors elite members benefit from the 5th Night Free Award, meaning five nights cost 480,000 points instead of 600,000, averaging about 96,000 points per night. Experienced points collectors know that Hilton points can often be purchased during promotions for around 0.5 US cents per point. With the 5th Night Free, a five-night stay effectively costs around $480 per night, compared to regular cash rates starting at roughly $1,300 per night — an impressive savings of over $820 per night.
