Hyatt’s New Gem: Andaz Miami Beach Opens After Major Transformation

In 2022, we learned about plans for an Andaz property in Miami Beach, with an existing Hyatt hotel set to be renovated and rebranded. There’s now an exciting update — the hotel officially opened in May 2025.

The Confidante Miami Beach becomes an Andaz

The Confidante Miami Beach previously belonged to The Unbound Collection, Hyatt’s brand for upscale, independently styled hotels.

In 2022, the 339-room property was sold to new owners for $232 million (about $684,000 per room). At that time, plans were announced for a $60 million renovation, after which the hotel would be rebranded as an Andaz.

The Confidante closed in March 2024 for extensive renovations and has now reopened as the Andaz Miami Beach as of early May 2025.

The transformation includes a redesigned lobby featuring a “first-of-its-kind ocean view check-in experience,” a refreshed pool area with two pools, the new Ondara Spa, and completely reimagined culinary offerings in collaboration with the José Andrés Group. Aguasal (the all-day dining venue) and Bar Centro (the all-day bar) are already open, while The Bazaar by José Andrés is expected to debut later in 2025.

With the renovation came a change in room inventory — the hotel now offers 287 accommodations, including 223 rooms and 64 suites.

Andaz Miami Beach rates & points requirements

Now that the Andaz Miami Beach is open, what can we expect in terms of rates?

For those redeeming World of Hyatt points, this is a Category 6 property, with standard room redemptions ranging from 21,000 to 29,000 points per night. Standard suite redemptions range from 36,000 to 44,000 points per night.

Cash rates fluctuate based on the season. We’ve seen pricing start at just under $500 per night in the low season, with rates in the high season climbing to over $800 per night. While these are steep, they’re not entirely surprising for a beachfront Miami property — though it remains to be seen whether the hotel can consistently command those prices.

Why we think this is great news

While we never stayed at The Confidante ourselves, we’ve heard it had a loyal following thanks to its beachfront location, even if the property was showing its age. It wasn’t positioned as a luxury hotel — which is consistent with The Unbound Collection’s more eclectic style — but it had charm.

We’re glad to see substantial investment go into revitalizing the hotel. The result is now undoubtedly Hyatt’s most premium offering in the Miami area, which should excite many World of Hyatt members. This is also one of two new Hyatt properties opening in Miami Beach in 2025, alongside the upcoming Thompson Miami Beach — though that property won’t be beachfront.

Miami has been a hot hotel market for years, and the pandemic only accelerated that trend. Room rates are higher than ever, and we imagine the Andaz will be able to command significantly more than The Confidante once did — for better or worse.
