Capella Taipei Is Coming — And It’s Absolutely Gorgeous

In the coming weeks, a new luxury hotel is set to open in Taipei—one that’s poised to raise the bar for high-end hospitality in Taiwan. It’s a property we’re genuinely excited about.

86-key Capella Taipei opening April 2025

Capella is widely considered one of the most respected boutique luxury hotel groups in the world. The brand currently operates just seven properties, with another nine in the pipeline. While we wouldn’t put too much stock in rankings, The World’s 50 Best Hotels list recently named Capella Bangkok the best hotel in the world.

The group’s next opening brings it to a market that’s in need of more top-tier accommodations. Capella Taipei is now accepting reservations for stays starting April 1, 2025. With just 86 rooms, the property is designed to feel like a “modern mansion,” and from early previews, it looks absolutely stunning.

The design is by André Fu Studio, the firm behind several other acclaimed properties including the St. Regis Hong Kong, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, and Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto.

Wellness & Dining

In terms of wellness offerings, Capella Taipei will feature a full-service spa with five treatment rooms, a sauna and steam room, a 24-hour gym, and an outdoor heated pool.

Dining will be another highlight, with five venues planned:

Ember 28 – an international grill-centric restaurant

Mizue – a ryokan-inspired Japanese dining experience

Rong Ju – a classic Cantonese restaurant

Plume – a cocktail bar serving light bites

Atelier Plume – a French patisserie offering coffee, pastries, and more

Rooms & Suites

Entry-level rooms are generously sized at 48 square meters (517 square feet), while deluxe suites measure an impressive 106 square meters (1,140 square feet). There’s also a unique Pool Terrace Room category, which includes a private plunge pool—an exciting touch for a city hotel.

A New Luxury Benchmark for Taipei

Taipei has long lacked a true collection of standout luxury properties. While the Mandarin Oriental Taipei and Shangri-La Far Eastern are among the best currently available, they don’t quite measure up to the flagship properties within their respective brands.

There have been announcements of a Park Hyatt and Andaz coming to The Sky Taipei development, but progress appears to have stalled. A Four Seasons Taipei is also planned, though no opening date has been confirmed.

Capella Taipei Rates & How to Book

The Capella Taipei is now bookable, with nightly rates starting just over NT$20,000—roughly $600 USD. That’s a significant premium over other luxury hotels in the city, which tend to hover below $300 USD per night.

However, considering the boutique scale, design pedigree, and elevated experience Capella is known for, this pricing seems in line with what the property aims to deliver.

Conclusion

Capella Taipei is now accepting reservations for stays beginning April 1, 2025, and it’s likely to become the city’s most luxurious hotel. With very few truly five-star properties in the area, this addition brings a refreshing new level of sophistication.

We’ve long been intrigued by Capella’s portfolio—every one of their properties looks stunning. Taipei has been on our radar for a return trip (not to mention a Starlux first class experience), and this opening gives us the perfect reason to plan it soon.
